Born and raised in the Philippines, Marvin “Gifted” Parulan has been dancing from a young age. He started competing in dance competitions at age 11 and started forming dance crews since 5th grade and was a cheerleader at Far Eastern University of Manila. Since moving to the United States in 2002, Marvin has achieved a number of accomplishments. Namely, he has directed and choreographed 3 successful dance crews—Reborn, FP, and Motion Theory. His dance crews have went on to win countless competitions and most recently, Motion Theory won the title of Phoenix’s Best Dance Crew at the America’s Best Dance Crew live tour.
Marvin has been teaching dance all over the Valley for 7 years through master classes, workshops, and studio classes. His dance skills are not limited to hip hop; he also has experience in ballroom dancing, jazz, and break-dancing. Marvin’s most significant achievement was finishing in the top 25 male finalists on So You Think You Can Dance, Season One. Marvin has worked with Helena Saraydian and Dee Dee Wood of Celebration of Dance. His big influences are Michael Jackson and all the baddest performers.
